Printing is a technique to reproduce text and illustrations. The printing press was brought to Goa by the Portuguese in the year 1556 A.D. This was the first machine in the whole of Asia. “DOUTRINA CHRISTA” composed by St. Francis Xavier was the first printed book in Goa in 1557. The History of printing in Goa gallery shows the different manually operated printing machines, the different type cases used in printing, rubber stamps and the machine used for making it. It also displays different monographs and fonts used in printing.
